How to Create a Squarespace Blog
Here's how you can start a Squarespace blog:
Step #1
In order for you to have a Squarespace blog, you need to have an account first. The process is quite simple and easy; you need to enter your email and create a password (you can also sign up with Google, Facebook, and Apple).
Step #2
Once you log into your Squarespace account, you will be led to the dashboard page. From there, click on the 'Create Website' button to start with the process.

Once you click on 'Create Website,' you will be taken to the 'Templates' page, where you can choose the type of website you want to create. In your case, check the 'blog' option.
Once you choose the type of website you want, Squarespace will give you the best matching templates for your website's topic (see the picture). You can also choose to use a blank template if you have the skills to create a website design from scratch.
Step #4
The next step after choosing your template would be picking a name for your Squarespace blog. Make sure that it's a clean, short, easy to remember, and catchy name. For example, it's much easier to remember Blognet than it is to remember Blognet38502.
Step #5
Next, Squarespace will lead you to your website's main page; from there, you can choose to add a blog page to your website.
- Go to 'Pages' from the side menu on the left.
- Next, click on the + next to the 'MAIN NAVIGATION' option.
- Now choose the 'Blog' option from the menu that appears.
- Next, you will be asked to choose from these options, choose whatever you want. I'd recommend you go for the layout you prefer; in this tutorial, We chose the Blog 1 option.
Step #6
Once you've chosen the Blog layout that you prefer, click on the gear next to Blog so you can customize the settings. The first thing you'll notice is that you can change the Page Title and the Navigation Title.

Most of these settings can be left as default as they're already good that way. But, it's good to know that there are a lot of settings that you can adjust and customize according to your needs and preferences.
Here are some of the essential Settings and what you need t know about them:
1. General
URL SLUG
Here you can write the name of the blog you want to write. This will appear in your URL for every blog post you create. You can choose something simple like blog posts or blog posts. Don't make the name too specific because we'll mention later how you can add the categories to this blog.
Enable Page
You get to choose whether you want visitors to view this page or not yet.
Password
If you choose to put a password on your blog page, only those who have the password will be able to access it.
2. SEO
SEO Description
This is a recommended setting to fill when you get to it. The SEO description is what people will see when your blog shows up on the Google search results page. You can just write a sentence or two describing your blog in general. The website will show you a little Google preview once you write the description.
Hide from Search Results
You can choose to hide certain pages or the whole blog from search results by toggling on or off the buttons next to each option.
3. Social Image
This option allows you to add an image to appear whenever you share your website on social media. However, this option isn't so important because Squarespace will post the image or logo of your website by default when you share it.
4. Feeds
In this tab, you can add a podcasting option to your Squarespace blog. This is an excellent option for people trying to start a book reading and reviews blog, a journaling blog, or any other blog that would be nice with the addition of audio content to it.
5. Advanced
Manage Tags / Categories
You can manage all of your tags and categories in this blog settings section. For example, if you wanted to delete an entire category, instead of going through each blog post to delete it, you could remove it all at once here.
Don't forget to click on save when you're done customizing the Settings!
Step #7
The next step you want to take is to add a post to your blog. Click on the '+' sign next to your navigation title to add a post to your blog.
Squarespace will move you to edit mode so you can edit your post title, content, and images as you want. You can immediately start editing the post Title and Body text. All you need to do is click on the areas and start typing!
The cool thing about Squarespace Blogs is that they're entirely customizable. You can add as many blocks, images, videos, texts, buttons, and spacers as you want. You can also move them around and customize the layout from scratch. This makes your blog look a lot more interesting than it would have if it were just a plain text blog.
Step #8
In this step, you can edit the settings for your blog and all the site. Things like fonts, colors, animation, spacing, block width, and more can all be customized to your heart's content.

This is the step you've been waiting for all along! Once you've chosen a title and created the content you want to share, it is time to go live and make the world see your creation!
All you need to do is click on the arrow next to the 'Done' option and choose 'Publish.'
